WHITE Cardstock! Cardstock can be found at Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, Target, Office Depot, Kinko's, etc. usually found next to the regular copy paper. We prefer cardstock because the heavier paper helps prevent the tags from ripping during the event. Please check the tags after you print them. If they are blurry or smeared, the scanner will not read them. Please do not resize the tags before printing them, the scanner will not read the barcode if you resize them. 10 tags will fit on one sheet of 8.5" x 11" sheet of cardstock.
Easy and Quick Directions for tagging your items:
Gather all your items to consign together. Make sure that they are in good condition with no holes or stains. If they do have stains you need to wash and treat them. You will want to make sure that the clothes are neat and pressed and that all items requiring batteries have working batteries. Please remember that the nicer your clothes look the better they will sell. Presentation Matters! Run the iron quickly over each item; take the little extra time to button all buttons, zip zippers, etc.
Place the items on a hanger so that the hook is facing the left. The hanger should look like a question mark (see example below). Use safety pins to attach any item that may fall off the hanger such as pants, skirts and blouses. Any infant items that will not fit on the hanger should also be safety pinned. Do NOT use straight pins or clothes pins.
Make sure that you have registered as a consignor. If you have not done so, please do so now. Click on the link on the right to register as a new consignor or a returning consignor. If you can not remember your log in number or password let us know. You will then go to the consignor page and begin entering your items into the computer following the directions that are given. Make sure that you check the boxes to donate or discount your items if you wish to do so. Your items must be at least $1.00.
When finished entering your labels put your WHITE CARDSTOCK paper in the printer and press print. You are not required to print all at one time. Your information will be saved and you can always go back to it at a later date. After you print the tag, be sure not to change any information on that particular item unless you reprint the tag! The barcode is good only for the information tied to the item at the time of printing.
Safety pin your printed tags onto the items of clothing that they belong to. Make sure that the tag is on the left shoulder of the garment. (see example)
Load your items in the car and bring them to our sale! Then come enjoy shopping for new things for your children at the pre-sale.

Pricing Guidelines Pricing Your Items
Price your items as if you were the buyer and not the seller. Ask yourself, "How much would I pay for this?" Items you prefer not to take home with you be sure to price low. Clothing is best priced at 1/4 to 1/3 of the retail price. You must keep in mind the brand/label of your clothing and how worn your clothes are and then price accordingly. All items must be at least $1.00.
Package similar items together for quicker sale. For example, match a top with a bottom, similar theme/age books, pairs of socks, or smaller toys etc.
Sign up to volunteer and receive 65% or more of your sold items price. This will enable you to make more for your items so you can price them accordingly.
When selecting your price for the item, think of the very least you would consider taking for it and that should be your price. If you can’t take half that amount, then do not select the half price option for that item. Do not let the half price issue affect your regular selling price because it simply makes the regular selling price too high. Remember if you are going to donate the item then always mark it at ½ price. It is better to get something for it than nothing.
Consider this a great opportunity to clean out closets and kid’s rooms. Do not let your time and energy go to waste by not selling everything you put in the sale. Price it to sell! If someone comes to the sale and gets lots of bargains, they are probably going to tell their friends. The success of Duds for Doodlebugs depends on a good turnout of shoppers. If we give them the bargains that they want, then our shopper base will grow each year.
